About the HEYTEA Triple Supreme Matcha Latte

The HEYTEA Triple Supreme Matcha Latte is $10.49 and 395 calories, and it is matcha in four forms at once: matcha cloud, matcha in the milk, matcha mochi and matcha jelly.

Triple undersells it. The build stacks matcha cloud on top, matcha whisked into real dairy milk through the body, then matcha mochi and matcha jelly sitting in the base. Each one carries the tea differently, and the point of the drink is tasting the same ingredient through four textures in a single cup.

The cloud is salted, which meets the matcha bitterness head on. The milk body is the familiar matcha latte. The mochi is soft and chewy with a faint sweetness of its own, and the jelly is firmer and cleaner, closer to the tea flavour undiluted. Further down the cup, the matcha gets progressively less obscured.

At 395 calories with 17g of fat and 31g of sugar this is the heaviest thing in the matcha range and the third heaviest on the menu, behind only the two bobo milk teas. The 10g of protein is the highest figure anywhere on the list.

It is a lot, and it is meant to be. This is the drink for someone who already likes matcha and wants more of it rather than a gentler version. Anyone unsure about the flavour should start with the Cloud Matcha Latte at the same $10.49 and work up.

The textures are also what makes it a poor delivery order. Mochi firms up as it cools in the same way tapioca does, and jelly loses its bite. Twenty minutes in a bag and two of the four matcha forms have changed character.

Milk is declared. Unlike the fruit teas there is no caffeine-free option here, and with matcha in four places this carries more caffeine than anything else on the menu.

Sweetness sits at 31g of sugar, which is high for the matcha range but low against the bobo drinks. Most of it comes from the mochi and the jelly rather than from syrup, so asking for less sugar trims the milk and leaves the chewy parts exactly as sweet as they were.

For the standard matcha build, the Cloud Matcha Latte is the one to start with. For matcha without the dairy base, the Matcha Cloud Coconut Blue is lighter at 260 calories.

How to Make Triple Supreme Matcha Latte at Home?

Four matcha components, and the mochi is the one worth buying rather than making. Everything else is straightforward if the matcha is good.

Tips

  • Buy the mochi. From scratch it takes an hour, and shop bought is genuinely better here.
  • Sift the cloud matcha separately. Unsifted powder leaves green specks that never whisk out.
  • Do not skimp on the matcha grade. With four matcha components, cheap powder is four times as obvious.

Variations

  • Drop the mochi and jelly for the standard Cloud Matcha Latte.
  • Use hojicha instead for a roasted, lower caffeine version.
  • Swap dairy for oat milk, which suits matcha better than most teas.

For people who already like matcha. It is not the drink to convert anyone with.

Triple Supreme Matcha Latte Questions

What are the three matcha elements?
Four, in practice: matcha cloud on top, matcha whisked into the milk, matcha mochi and matcha jelly in the base. Each carries the tea through a different texture.
How many calories are in it?
395 calories with 17g of fat, 31g of sugar and 10g of protein. That protein figure is the highest anywhere on the HEYTEA menu.
Is it very bitter?
Less than you would expect. The salted cloud meets the bitterness rather than covering it, and the milk and mochi round it out. It tastes strongly of matcha without tasting harsh.
Should I order it for delivery?
No. Mochi firms up as it cools and jelly loses its bite, so two of the four matcha forms change character within twenty minutes in a bag.
Does it have a lot of caffeine?
More than anything else on the menu, since matcha appears in four places. There is no caffeine-free version of this drink.
